Everyone
is all about “going green” nowadays. A lot of individuals are turning to
recycling and saving energy in any way they can. This is all on an individual
level, however. So how do big businesses, those who are usually guilty
of having high carbon footprints, cut down on their use of energy? “If a
building pulls electricity from the grid, burns oil or natural gas, or uses
products and services, the building has a carbon footprint,” says Eric Taub in
a magazine article, Carbon Footprint Gaining A Place on the FM Agenda. Many companies do not
generally have their employees working in the office all of the time and
therefore, do not need to have a lot of office space.
Deskflex,
a hoteling software, allows for
companies to rent things such as conference rooms, desks, car spaces, and hotel
rooms. This allows companies to reduce their carbon footprint because they are
only using the space when they need to. Companies can thus save on electricity
and other such things that increase carbon footprints and reduce carbon
emissions. So, for example, if a company employs 100 individuals and only 50 of
those employees have to be in the office at a given time, the company can rent
out a space just for those individuals. There is no need to have a huge office
space for the rest of the employees who will not even be there. Deskflex allows
companies to use this feature and hopefully be a step closer to a greener environment.
